Everyone has a story. For many victims and survivors of harm, trauma, or injustice, sharing that story can be difficult. Experiences can be complex, painful, and sometimes impossible to fully express through words alone.

The BR Project (Bearing Witness – Reclaiming Truth) is a trauma-informed, arts-based initiative created to support victims and survivors in shaping and expressing their lived experiences through visual art, writing, guided narrative work, and legacy projects.

I created the BR Project because I believe every person deserves the opportunity to have their story heard, honoured, and expressed on their own terms. I am an artist, a certified trauma-informed art therapy practitioner, and a business and communications executive with more than 30 years of experience helping individuals and organizations understand the power of stories. My work has always centred on trust, communication, change, and helping people navigate complex experiences.

I have also completed additional training in trauma-informed practice, healing arts, DEIA, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution, and workplace psychological health and safety. This combination of experience informs my approach: one grounded in compassion, respect, safety, choice, and collaboration.

The BR Project is not about defining people by what happened to them. It is about supporting survivors as they decide what they want to express, how they want to express it, and what they want their story to become. Through art, writing, and narrative work, survivors can explore their experiences, create personal or public legacy pieces, prepare stories for loved ones or legal processes, or share their voices in support of advocacy and change.

This work can also support organizations and institutions seeking more meaningful approaches to accountability and healing. When survivor voices are listened to with care and respect, lived experience can become a powerful catalyst for understanding, learning, and transformation.

Truth matters. Stories matter. Being heard matters. The BR Project stands for truth reclaimed, stories honoured, and voices made visible, in service of healing, connection, accountability, and change.
